XPEL buys a film factory in China
The brand that never named its film's factory now owns one, alongside a $110 million manufacturing and supply-chain push.

On May 19, 2026, XPEL announced an investment of about $110 million in manufacturing and its supply chain, including an expansion in San Antonio, and said: "Separately, XPEL has acquired a manufacturing facility in China." Its next quarterly filing with the SEC puts the price at $21.4 million, paid through a new subsidiary that XPEL owns 75% of.
It follows a 2025 move into China's aftermarket: in September 2025 a new Shanghai company, 76% owned by XPEL, bought the business of XPEL's exclusive distributor there.
Neither filing says which XPEL films the new plant will make. XPEL's window-film spec sheet still doesn't name a factory, so the database keeps saying so.
What we updated on Mr. Window Tint
- XPEL's listing now notes the May 2026 factory purchase, next to the fact that its spec sheet doesn't name where its window film is made.
